We're seeking a suitable student to work on the research ' Integrated Management of Diabetes and Tuberculosis using mHealth in India'. Tuberculosis (TB) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) are major public health problems in India. Recent, studies in India confirm the prevalence of TB to be higher in people with DM and vice-versa. Co-morbid patients (those with both TB and DM) have a higher risk of severe clinical manifestations and experience poorer treatment outcomes, therefore need tailored attention and care. Interventions that utilise m-Heath (mobile phones solutions) to improve access to care and treatment adherence have been extensively used in DM and TB, but separately. There is an urgent need for an integrated approach in using mHealth strategies for these co-morbid patients. This PhD project will look at developing and evaluating an integrated m-Health platform for improving outcomes of co-morbid patients with TB and Diabetes. The results will be used to develop a robust framework for managing chronic diseases using m-Health platforms in developing countries.
