Cooperation meeting with University of del Desarrollo, Santiago, Chile

With the aim of generating links and collaboration to develop joint clinical studies, and for the greater advancement of human health, Professor Craig Anderson, Executive Director of the George Institute China and Neurology and Epidemiology Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of UNSW Sydney, visited the private University of del Desarrollo (UDD) in Santiago, Chile.

During the visit, Professor Anderson met with Professor Federico Valdés, the President of UDD; Professor Daniel Contesse, the vice-president of Innovation and Development department; and Professor Sergio Hernández, the vice-president of Research and Doctorates; as well as researchers from the Institute of Sciences and Innovation in Medicine (ICIM), and doctors from the German Clinic. It was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and present the various projects that are being carried out.

In addition, Professor Anderson visited the new ICIM laboratories, located in the UDD Research Plaza Building, where research is carried out in different areas, such as microbial genomics, gene editing of the Hantavirus, and where "Sofia" is located, which is a computational cluster that performs analysis and interpretation of data and gives advice on experimental designs, statistical analysis to scientists of different institutions.

The George Institute for Global Health is a global leading research institute specialising in clinical studies of different areas and specialties that conglomerates research centers of teaching and those of industry around the world. In this context, Professor Anderson is working with the German Clinic Neurology group on INTERACT2, ENCHANTED, and HeadPoST, with Dr. Pablo Lavados, Dr. Paula Muñoz, and others.  Professor Anderson met with the rest of the team and with representatives of the Research and Clinical Trials Unit of the clinic.
