George makes a better me
Jiachao Ji is a biostatistician at The George Institute, China, and is currently responsible for ORBIT、DOSA2 and Beyond Ⅶ projects. Today, let’s listen to his profile story and step into his inner world.
1. How long have you been working at The George Institute?
I joined The George Institute, China in July, 2013, so have been working here for more than four years.
2. What is your professional background?
My major is medical statistics. Specifically, it is Epidemiology and Health Statistics in the field of public health.
3. What attracted you to work at The George Institute?
The George Institute, China is an ideal research organization which totally correspond with my major and research interest, and it also gives me opportunities to develop my talent. Moreover, the working environment, academic atmosphere and its commitment of improving human health attracts me as well.
4. What does your work focus on?
The majority of my tasks is data cleansing, data verification and statistics analysis for research projects. Specifically speaking, I am dealing with data based on project requirements, generating report accordingly and giving feedback to research colleagues in return. Sometimes I also draft statistics analysis plans for research projects.
5. What difference will this make to healthcare and why?
My job is to ensure accuracy and authenticity of all research projects, to improve the influence, consequently provide a better healthcare guidance.
6. How do you explain to others the work you are doing?
As a biostatistician, I try to dig out and find solutions to data related issues during the project from the perspective of statistics. In addition, in the stage of data analysis, I apply the appropriate data analysis methods to research projects to ensure the reliable outcomes.
7. To unwind at the end of the day you…
I like playing basketball, watching NBA games and also a big fan of travelling.
8. My first job was…
I joined The George Institute, China (TGI China) right after getting my master degree, so it's my very first job.
9. My biggest achievement or gain so far…
In the past few years, I have witnessed my growth in George. From a statistic programmer to a biostatistician, from the beginning to now that I can get my tasks done efficiently, it is all about George. Since joined George, with the concerted efforts of my colleagues, I have seen gratifying accomplishments and have a strong sense of achievement in the projects I have been involved in. We will encounter different challenges when working on different projects, and I have courage to face every new challenge. Keep learning and growing is my biggest achievement.
