The George Institute for Global Health is a leading independent global medical research institute established and headquartered in Sydney, with additional centres in China, India and the UK, and an international network of experts and collaborators.

Our mission is to improve the health of millions of people worldwide, particularly those living under disadvantaged circumstances, by challenging the status quo and using innovative approaches to prevent and treat non-communicable diseases and injury. 

The George Institute China focuses specifically on the biggest health challenges in China. Established in 2007, we have grown to be one of the country’s leading health research organisations.

Our strategy

The George Institute is focused on the global health challenges that cause the greatest loss of productive life and burden to wellbeing. With a special focus on health issues affecting the Chinese population and health system, The George Institute China aims to help address major health issues here by translating research outcomes into policy and practice, and to provide policymakers with effective, high-impact and low-cost solutions.

Our history

The George Institute China was officially launched in 2007 and has progressed to developing and coordinating a broad range of alliances between governments, universities, hospitals, clinics and other research organisations across China.
